En el bimestre actual, los estudiantes de primero han explorado un tema profundo y significativo: la relación entre la vida y la muerte, y cómo ambas pueden entrelazarse con la esperanza. A través de diversas experiencias personales, historias conmovedoras y videos, los niños han tenido la oportunidad de expresar sus sentimientos y emociones en torno a la pérdida, que puede ir desde la partida de una mascota o un ser querido, hasta cambios significativos como mudarse de escuela o incluso de país.
Durante este proceso, los estudiantes han comprendido que la muerte no es solo un final, sino también una forma de esperanza. Para muchos, especialmente los ancianos y quienes enfrentan enfermedades, la muerte puede representar un merecido descanso y una oportunidad para reunirse con Dios. Este entendimiento ha sido fundamental, ya que les ha permitido ver la muerte desde una perspectiva más positiva y reconfortante.
Un aspecto clave de este aprendizaje ha sido la capacidad de los estudiantes para utilizar la tecnología como herramienta de expresión. A través de la app Curipod en sus iPads, algunos niños han creado escritos que reflejan sus emociones, complementándolos con dibujos y mapas de palabras. En sus creaciones, han utilizado términos que describen la muerte de manera rica y variada, como amor, perdón, descanso, sabiduría, alegría, esperanza, soledad, paz y Dios, entre otros.
Los estudiantes se han sentido exitosos en este viaje de descubrimiento, ya que han encontrado en la tecnología un aliado para cuidar su salud mental y emocional frente a las pérdidas y los duelos. Al aprender a ver estas experiencias como oportunidades para vivir con esperanza, han desarrollado una mayor resiliencia y una comprensión más profunda de la vida y la muerte.
Este enfoque no solo les ha permitido procesar sus emociones, sino que también les ha brindado herramientas valiosas para enfrentar futuros desafíos. En definitiva, este bimestre ha sido un viaje de aprendizaje significativo, donde la esperanza se ha convertido en el hilo conductor que une la vida y la muerte en el corazón de nuestros estudiantes.
A Grief Full of Hope

In the current semester, first-grade students have explored a deep and meaningful topic: the relationship between life and death, and how both can be intertwined with hope. Through a variety of personal experiences, touching stories, and related videos, children have had the opportunity to express their feelings and emotions around loss, which can range from the departure of a pet or loved one to significant changes such as moving to a new school or even a new country.
Through this process, students have come to understand that death is not only an end, but also a form of hope. For many, especially the elderly and those facing illness, death can represent a well-deserved rest and an opportunity to reunite with God. This understanding has been instrumental, as it has allowed them to view death in a more positive and comforting light.
A key aspect of this learning has been the students' ability to use technology as a tool for expression. Using the Curipod App on their iPads, some children have created writings that reflect their emotions, complementing them with drawings and word maps. In their creations, they have used terms that describe death in rich and varied ways, such as love, forgiveness, rest, wisdom, joy, hope, solitude, peace, and God, among others.
Students have felt successful in this journey of discovery, as they have found in technology an ally to take care of their mental and emotional health in the face of loss and grief. By learning to see these experiences as opportunities to live with hope, they have developed greater resilience and a deeper understanding of life and death.
This approach has not only allowed them to process their emotions, but has also provided them with valuable tools to face future challenges. Ultimately, this two-month period has been a meaningful learning journey, where hope has become the common thread that links life and death in the hearts of our students.
