El pasado viernes 7 de marzo, cinco estudiantes del Colegio Rochester—Paula Romero, Aleida Méndez, Hanna Isaza, Matías Miraballes y Martín Ramírez—representaron con orgullo a nuestro colegio en un encuentro académico en el Colegio Nueva Granada. En este espacio, compartieron sus textos argumentativos y reflexionaron sobre el poder de la poesía como herramienta de expresión personal y de comunicación de ideas.
Durante varias semanas previas al evento, los estudiantes trabajaron en la redacción y perfeccionamiento de sus textos, explorando cómo la poesía puede ser un medio para transmitir sus creencias y emociones. Con el apoyo y la retroalimentación de sus docentes de Castellano, lograron desarrollar escritos sólidos y bien argumentados, que reflejaron su profundidad de pensamiento y habilidades comunicativas.
En el evento, nuestros estudiantes no solo leyeron sus textos frente a un público compuesto por estudiantes de otros colegios miembros de la UNCOLI, sino que también expusieron oralmente sus propósitos de escritura y participaron en una valiosa práctica de escucha empática, analizando las posturas de otros participantes.
Queremos destacar especialmente el desempeño de Martín Ramírez Bustamante, quien fue reconocido por la calidad de su presentación y galardonado durante la asamblea general. Además, aunque Martina Hernández no pudo asistir, su escrito argumentativo fue altamente valorado por su claridad y profundidad.
Los textos fueron enviados al jurado del Colegio Nueva Granada como parte del proceso de selección para el XXX Congreso de Literatura, cuyo tema central fue “Poesía y Pensamiento”.
Este evento no solo representó un espacio de expresión y creatividad para nuestros estudiantes, sino que también les permitió fortalecer sus habilidades de argumentación, comunicación y pensamiento crítico, demostrando una vez más el nivel académico y la excelencia de nuestra comunidad Rochester.
Rochester Students Shine in Literary Event at Colegio Nueva Granada

Last Friday, March 7, five students from Colegio Rochester—Paula Romero, Aleida Méndez, Hanna Isaza, Matías Miraballes, and Martín Ramírez—proudly represented our school in an academic event at Colegio Nueva Granada. During this gathering, they shared their argumentative texts and reflected on the power of poetry as a tool for personal expression and communication of ideas.
In the weeks leading up to the event, the students worked diligently on writing and refining their texts, exploring how poetry can serve as a medium to convey their beliefs and emotions. With the support and feedback of their Spanish teachers, they developed strong, well-structured pieces that showcased their depth of thought and communication skills.
At the event, our students not only presented their texts in front of an audience composed of students from other UNCOLI member schools, but they also explained the purpose behind their writing and engaged in valuable active listening exercises, analyzing the perspectives of other participants.
We would like to give special recognition to Martín Ramírez Bustamante, who was honored for the quality of his presentation and awarded during the general assembly. Additionally, although Martina Hernández was unable to attend, her argumentative text was highly praised for its clarity and depth.
The texts were submitted to the jury at Colegio Nueva Granada as part of the selection process for the XXX Literature Congress, whose central theme was "Poetry and Thought."
This event not only provided our students with a platform for creative expression but also allowed them to strengthen their argumentation, communication, and critical thinking skills, once again demonstrating the academic excellence of our Rochester community.
