On January 29, in the heart of Chía, Cundinamarca, Colombia, 23 bright-eyed 7-year-old students from the Institución Educativa Oficial Fonquetá, embarked on an extraordinary linguistic journey through the Rochester's Educational Foundation "English for Chía" program. From navigating the shimmering waters of our swimming pool to forging friendships with preschool students during joyful park recesses.
The first two weeks have been filled with excitement and curiosity for this wonderful group of children. During the inaugural week, they eagerly explored their new surroundings, from the cozy classroom to the football field. Through interactive sessions and engaging conversations, they not only enjoyed using iPads in class and learned the ABCs in English but also discovered the joy of self-expression.
The journey has only just begun. Mary, my teaching assistant, and I feel blessed to share moments of laughter with them as we all learn and grow together. With each passing day, everyone involved in the program is inspired by the unwavering enthusiasm of these wonderful children. We are fueled by the belief that education is the greatest catalyst for change and remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a nurturing and inclusive space where every child, regardless of background, can thrive. Together, we embark on a transformative voyage—one that celebrates the power of education to shape destinies and forge pathways to a better tomorrow.
Programa de Inglés para Chía: Un Viaje de Aprendizaje y Diversión

El 29 de febrero, en el corazón de Chía, Cundinamarca, Colombia, 23 estudiantes de 7 años de edad, con ojos brillantes, de la Institución Educativa Oficial Fonquetá, se embarcaron en un extraordinario viaje lingüístico a través del programa "Inglés para Chía" de la Fundación Rochester. Desde navegar por las relucientes aguas de la piscina de nuestro colegio hasta forjar amistades con estudiantes de preescolar durante los alegres recreos en el parque, las primeras dos semanas han estado llenas de emoción y curiosidad para este maravilloso grupo de niños.
Durante la semana inaugural, exploraron con entusiasmo su nuevo entorno, desde nuestro acogedor salón hasta el campo de fútbol. A través de sesiones interactivas y conversaciones estimulantes, no sólo disfrutaron usando iPads en clase y aprendieron el abecedario en inglés, sino que también descubrieron la alegría de la autoexpresión.
El viaje apenas ha comenzado. Mary, mi asistente de enseñanza, y yo, nos sentimos bendecidas de compartir momentos de risas con ellos mientras todos aprendemos y crecemos juntos. Con cada día que pasa, todos los involucrados en el programa nos inspiramos con el entusiasmo inquebrantable de estos maravillosos niños. Estamos impulsados por la creencia de que la educación es el mayor catalizador del cambio y permanecemos firmes en nuestro compromiso de proporcionar un espacio acogedor e inclusivo donde cada niño, independientemente de su origen, pueda prosperar. Juntos,
nos embarcamos en un viaje transformador, uno que celebra el poder de la educación para moldear destinos y forjar caminos hacia un mañana mejor.
