¡Los gatos se apoderaron del CRA! El viernes 7 de febrero, nuestros estudiantes de Jardín recibieron la visita que habían estado esperando con ansias desde el inicio del bimestre: Amalia Leal Córdoba fue la autora invitada a la biblioteca infantil del CRA. Con su libro ¿A dónde viajan los gatos?, escrito junto a su padre, Francisco Leal Quevedo, los estudiantes de Jardín se adentraron en un mundo de aventura, autodescubrimiento y muchos felices "miau".
Siguiendo la historia de la intrépida Io, una gatita con una sed insaciable de conocimiento y viajes, los estudiantes se encontraron con un perro juguetón, un viaje internacional por el océano hasta el Fin del Mundo, una familia de gatos callejeros, una invasión de ratas y la bondad de humanos desconocidos.
Los estudiantes pudieron hacer todas las preguntas que surgieron durante la lectura del libro en su clase de biblioteca: ¿Io realmente viajó hasta la Patagonia en un barco con forma de ballena? ¿Io es una gata real? ¿Y los otros animales de la historia? Las respuestas los sorprendieron aún más cuando Amalia reveló qué estaba inspirado en eventos reales vividos por sus traviesos gatos y qué nació de la imaginación en la colaboración entre ella y su padre.
A través de ejercicios de respiración de yoga y juegos de imaginación, los estudiantes pudieron conocer mejor las personalidades de cada gato y acercarse aún más a los personajes que tanto quisieron durante la lectura del libro. Las imágenes de los gatos reales que inspiraron la historia les ayudaron a valorar aún más a los personajes y a conocer mejor a los autores de esta maravillosa historia.

The cats took over the CRA! On Friday, February 7, our Kinder students finally received the visit they had been eagerly awaiting since the beginning of the term: Amalia Leal Córdoba was the guest author at the Children’s Library in the CRA. With her book ¿A dónde viajan los gatos?, co-written with her father, Francisco Leal Quevedo, the Kinder students embarked on a journey filled with adventure, self-discovery, and plenty of joyful meows.
Following the story of the intrepid Io, a kitten with an untamable thirst for knowledge and travel, the students encountered a playful dog, an international sea voyage to the End of the World, a family of stray cats, a rat invasion, and the kindness of human strangers.
The students had the chance to ask all the questions that arose while reading the story in their library class: Did Io really travel all the way to Patagonia on a whale-shaped ship? Is Io a real cat? What about all the other animals in the story? They were even more surprised when Amalia revealed which parts were inspired by real-life events involving her mischievous cats and which were born from the creative collaboration between her and her father.
Through yoga breathing exercises and imagination games, the students got to explore the personalities of each cat and connect more deeply with the characters they had grown to love during the story. Seeing images of the real cats that inspired the book helped them appreciate the characters even more and get to know the authors behind this wonderful story.
