Mission

The LRC focuses all its efforts and actions on achieving, over the mid term, the following four objectives:

  • To adapt the library infrastructure and services to the needs arising from the certification process as a Glasser Quality School (GQS), effectively supporting teachers in terms of teaching and research material, as well as leading the positioning of spaces that facilitate learning, following the LRC model.
  • To develop the digital library in all aspects by providing all subjects with electronic resources, creating institutional repositories, digitalizing the old graduation projects file, and using tools that favor self-service and home-delivery service.
  • To implement quality assessment techniques in EFQM activities and services as a management tool that should be reflected in external recognition through the attainment of a quality certification.
  • To enable the School’s Learning Resources Center to fulfill its goal of reaching a level of service excellence in line with the expectation the School has in this regard, and definitely achieve the ends and commitment the School has set out in its policies for service to society, contributing to the integral training of a person, as well as fostering principles based on human rights, solidarity, sustainable development, peace and democratic values.

The Trends that are detected in the specific context at Rochester School’s Learning Resources Center:

  • Greater demand for on-line services, especially on the part of students who need to carry out Graduation Projects and provision of a greater autonomy as users and of a growing volume of information available.
  • Growing demand from students for individual and group work spaces, maintaining mass use of study rooms during times of exams, which is probably linked to the traditional systems of studying by using class notes.
  • New technological possibilities that facilitate the development of a virtual library and allow personalized services and new teaching materials.
  • Confirmation of the role of librarians as permanent trainers for users in the use of information resources.
  • A higher degree of international and interdisciplinary approach given by the study plans, projects, research and attendance of international students, etc.
  • Professionalization of library staff who exhibit growing needs for ongoing training.
